Opening Ceremony of the 13th Zerkalo Andrey Tarkovsky International Film Festival
The opening ceremony of the 13th Zerkalo Andrey Tarkovsky International Film Festival will be held on June 14, 2019 at Georgievskaya square in Yurievets, in the director's homeland.
A new tradition was introduced last year: Zerkalo opens with a big open-air concert in a small town of Yurievets on the Volga bank, where filmmaker Andrey Tarkovsky lived as a young child and a museum in his honor now operates. In 2018, Viacheslav Butusov performed at the opening: his concert drew a crowd of about five thousand people.
In 2019, the official opening musicians are composer Igor Vdovin and Yuri Kasparyan, guitarist of Kino. On June 14, they will play an original set "Symphonic KINO", unparalleled in Russian rock culture. Orchestral versions of Viktor Tsoi and Kino's legendary songs, arranged by Igor Vdovin, will be performed at the concert. A symphonic orchestra will play under open air, while Yuri Kasparyan's guitar, familiar to and loved by all fans of Viktor Tsoi and Russian rock music, will be the highlight of the performance.
After the Symphonic KINO concert, screening of Alexey Balabanov's Brother will conclude the ceremony. The film will be shown on a huge open-air screen and introduced by the president of Zerkalo Festival, director Sergey Bodrov.
The 13th Zerkalo Andrey Tarkovsky International Film Festival will be held in Ivanovo Region on June 14–21, 2019.
