REGULATIONS OF THE XVIII ANDREI TARKOVSKY

ZERKALO (MIRROR) INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

GENERAL PROVISIONS
Article 1
With the purposes of developing cultural exchange, mutual understanding across nations and cooperation among cinematographers of the world, Andrei Tarkovsky Zerkalo (Mirror) International Film Festival is held in Ivanovo region.
Film festival status: International Festival.
Held annually.
Festival Venues location – Ivanovo region, Russian Federation.
Festival dates in 2025 – June 26 through July 1.

FESTIVAL ORGANIZATION
Article 2
Andrei Tarkovsky Zerkalo (Mirror) International Film Festival (further referred to as IFF Zerkalo) was established by the Government of Ivanovo Region. IFF Zerkalo is held with the support of the Government of Ivanovo Region and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The Festival Office (Directorate) performs general management and organization of the Festival.

Article 3
The program of Andrei Tarkovsky Zerkalo (Mirror) International Film Festival includes:
  1. Inaugural opening of the Festival;
  2. International Feature Film Competition;
  3. Animation program;
  4. Svoi Russian films program;
  5. Tarkovsky Context program;
  6. Costume as an Element of Character's Image program;
  7. Music as an Element of Character's Thinking program;
  8. Architecture as an Element of Character's Mood program;
  9. Special screenings;
  10. Educational program;
  11. Creative meetings program;
  12. Inaugural closing and award ceremony of the Festival.
Article 4
The international competition program includes at least 7 films, each film shall have a duration of 60 minutes and be completely produced after January 1, 2024. Preference shall be given to world and Russian premieres.
Applications to participate at the international competition program of the Festival are open from March 10 to May 15, 2025. Applications shall be submitted online (Applications section of the website at https://zerkalo.space ).
The applicant confirms the possession of all rights and credentials to apply for selection at Zerkalo Festival.
Screeners submitted for selection shall have English subtitles (except for films whose original languages are Russian and/or English).
The copyright holder can modify the application and/or submit an updated screener strictly within the application period. Applications and/or screeners received after the closing of the application period shall not be accepted.
The Directorate of Zerkalo Festival shall have the right to clarify and/or request any information regarding the application. In case the Directorate of Zerkalo Festival finds that false information has been provided, it may reject the application.
The films to participate at Zerkalo Festival shall be selected by a dedicated board, which shall finish its work not later than June 1 of this year. The Directorate of Zerkalo Festival shall take decisions regarding the participation of films at Festival programs.
The Directorate of Zerkalo Festival shall develop the program of Festival screenings.
Each film can have not more than three screenings at the Festival, including press screenings.
The list of films selected to Zerkalo Festival programs will be published at the Festival website.

Article 5
Films on digital media are accepted for the international competition program.
Copies of films participating in the program must be received by the Directorate of the Zerkalo Festival no later than June 1 of the current year.

Article 6
Other programs also accept films in digital formats.
The Directorate of the Festival shall receive copies of the films selected for other Festival programs not later than June 1 of this year.

Article 7
All terms and deadlines shall be binding, otherwise the Directorate reserves the right to exclude a film from the Festival program.

DOCUMENTATION
Article 8
The Directorate shall receive the materials for all the films included in the Festival programs not later than June 1 of this year, namely:
- Uploaded screener file (.mp4 or similar format, file size: up to 5 Gb, same cut as the DCP for the Festival);
- Dialogue transcripts in original languages with time codes corresponding to the DCP (.srt or another format);
- Materials for the catalogue: synopsis (up to 500 symbols), director's bio (up to 300 symbols), information about film creators, film duration, production year, film snapshots (300 DPI), photos (300 DPI), a poster (300 DPI);
- Film trailer.

TRANSPORTATION AND INSURANCE OF FILM COPIES
Article 9
The Festival Directorate bears the costs of delivery of films in digital formats. The Festival Directorate pays for storage and insurance of the copies of films included in the Festival program.

GUESTS
Article 10
The Festival Directorate handles the matters of inviting guests, terms and duration of guests' stay.
The Festival bears the costs of travel and accommodation of two persons representing an in-competition film (director, producer, scriptwriter, actor or actress).

JURY
Article 11
A dedicated International Feature Film Jury is established to assess in-competition films.
The Jury cannot include any persons involved in the creation or commercial distribution of films participating in a relevant competition.

PRIZES
Article 12
The Feature Film Jury awards the following prizes (symbols):

BEST DIRECTOR AWARD
PRIZE OF THE JURY

Article 13
The following prizes (symbols) are also awarded at the Festival:
SPECIAL FESTIVAL'S ORGANIZING COMMITTEE PRIZE FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION IN ART
ANDREI TARKOVSKY SPECIAL FESTIVAL'S ORGANIZING COMMITTEE PRIZE FOR CONTRIBUTIOIN IN CINEMATOGRAPHY
AUDIENCE AWARD – awarded to one film of the International Feature Film Competition
SPECIAL PRIZE OF IVANOVO REGION

FINAL CLAUSES
Article 13
Participation at the Festival requires the compliance with all the provisions of these Regulations.
In case of disputes regarding the Regulations, the text of these Regulations shall prevail.
IFF Zerkalo Directorate may handle all matters arousing in the progress of Festival preparation and hosting, which are not mentioned in these Regulations, in accordance with generally recognized practices of international film festivals.
