A Russian man begins his mission as director of a music school in a Yakut town on an errand from Moscow. He is trying to impose his management style and is soon involved in a confrontation with Marta Grigoryevna, the head of the kid's choir. There's perestroika time going on and the Sakha people feel the need to rebuild their identity. The clash of two cultures leads to a mystical feeling between the director and his recent rival. Now she will have to choose between the sacred grim past and love giving hope for a bright future.
